About the Dance

On Saturday November 6th, LIZZ ROMAN & DANCERS and filmmaker Pete Litwinowicz will present an evening of dance films including excerpts from their latest project “YOU ARE HERE" a site-specific journey through the Project Commotions building located at 2095 Harrison St in San Francisco. This online fundraiser is commissioned by Project Commotion, a nonprofit community space where children, families and educators are invited to grow together through movement, sensory experiences and play.

Chris Black

Chris has been dancing with and for Lizz Roman for almost 30 years.

Clarissa K. Ko

Clarissa K. Ko is a spirited dance artist and educator who encourages supportive and reflective dance spaces for all ages. Clarissa received her BA in Performing Arts and Social Justice from the University of San Francisco and her MSEd in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University. In recent years she has danced with Lizz Roman and Dancers and 13th Floor Dance Theater in dance films and site-specific work. Through her dance company, Five Feet Dance, Clarissa has presented work at CounterPulse, SAFEhouse for the Arts, Little Boxes Theater, and the Asian Art Museum.

Daniel Rojas

Daniel is originally from SoCal and moved to San Francisco in 2015. He began his dance training at RCC in Riverside in 2013 and has continued to be inspired by all forms of movement. Since then he was worked as a yoga and fitness instructor and continues to dance in SF. Movement is a universal language and he hopes to continue to explore and share his love of movement with those around him.

Jamie Nakama

Jamie is a dancer, youth mentor, environmental educator, anthropology professor, capoeira instructor, and yoga teacher! Her movement background includes modern, aerial dance, butoh, hula, Afro-Brazilian dance and capoeira.  She performed with several dance companies in Hawaii prior to moving to the Bay Area in 2016.  She joined Lizz Roman & Dancers in 2017 – a huge dream turned into reality!  Besides her love of dance, Jamie has been teaching/managing environmental education programs for over 2 decades, specifically dedicated to working with youth from underserved, marginalized communities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in life sciences, visual arts and dance, and a master’s degree in ecological anthropology.

Jerome Lindner

Musician/Composer

Jerome is a San Francisco Native. He began playing guitar at 13 years old. Soon after, he began to accompany Lizz Roman’s dance classes throughout the city. He then went on to compose and perform for Lizz Roman & Dancers, where he won his first Izzy. In 2014 he graduated From Ex’pression College with a Bachelor's Degree of Applied Science. Over the past 7 years Jerome has also been composing, recording and arranging music for San Jose recording artist Andrew Bigs. The two are currently working on their 2nd studio album as well as 2 side projects. The two are planning to release new music throughout 2020.


Pete Litwinowicz

Filmmaker

Pete is a choreographer and filmmaker who concentrates on combining both disciplines. Pete co-owns RE:Vision Effects, Inc, a visual effects software company, and works as visual effects software developer and artist for the motion picture and video industries. Pete has won several awards including an Academy Award©; an Ars Electronica Golden Nica (Austria); and an Imagina Award (Monaco) for Best Visual Effects and Visual Innovation. Pete worked as co-artistic director of Dance Continuum SF from 2007-2012, and danced for Company Chaddick from 1996-2006. Pete has also served on the faculty at San Francisco Dance Center and at Western Ballet, among several other schools.
